Romantic Eatery

My family/friends are BIG eaters and we always have potlucks, cook offs, food battles, etc and I always just take photos of the actual gathering… BUT this time I just wanted to take photos of the food because to me thats the romantic part of the entire gathering. I shot these delicious sliders in a high key setting in mind with my 5D MrkII with my favourite lens of 50mm f/1.4. This is why I love summer so much because of how much I am able to use my BBQ to cook food! Happy eatings everyone!

Beer, Pizza, & Cake

Even though my birthday was last week my good friends from my Photography Class: Kim Kim, Dwayne, Delain, and Shawn insisted to go out for some beers at Empress. Lone and behold Kim Kim made me a special birthday cake (she is know to make the best cakes for any occasions)… BUT I didn’t expect a Munny version of me on the cake that dresses exactly what I wear all the time. Love my friends soo much! Great times catching up since we graduated in the spring time, having drinks, eating pizza, and of course eating cake. This is why I love summer and of course my friends! THANKS AGAIN KIM KIM!

Nom’n With Friends: Jason Pietrzykowski

I love eating and trying new restaurants; especially with friends. Jason and I have been talking about going to this pizza joint he goes to with his lady friend, Tanja, for their classic new york style pizza. I’ve gone to MANY pizza places in the city and always get disappointed but Jason reassured me that this place will not disappoint… and he was RIGHT! The past week we finally went to Ragazzi Bistro on 8110 - 82nd Ave and meet up at the shop Foosh to bike there. I was ripping around in my Globe Roll 1 Fixed & Jason was riding in his wood grain SE Ripping bike.

Once we arrived I was kinda sceptical because it was in the Bonnie Doon area which isn’t the greatest looking area, BUT do not let looks deceive you because this place is awesome! I let Jason order and he knew right away without looking at the menu; N.Y. Spice. The pizza had a thin crust, the cheese was melted perfectly, and there was enough spice/heat to be enjoyable yet not over baring. I honestly do recommend ANYONE to go here if you craving a good pizza in the city.

I think I’m going to keep this theme going with “Nom’n WIth Friends“… soo if anyone in the city knows a cool local restaurant that they think is really good or worth trying please let me know! I’m always down to eat!

Niche

In the past year there has been a booming movement of small little 30 person seating restaurants in the city which I’m happy to see being a foodie and really seeing how Edmonton is growing culturally. One of these restaurants is Niche (11011 Jasper Avenue). My friend, John Ahn, is one of the owners of this establishment and he allowed me to take a portrait of him before opening. We started to talk about how this city is eventually going to be a food city that will draw more people to this city and how people here have to stop complaining about the city while not doing anything about it. This is one thing that John wanted to do for the city for the better of for the city… thus far its working with the restaurants unique setting, small intimate service, and great dishes from Nathan Saurette whom is the chef.

When I ate there a few days later after the photoshoot, I was truly impressed. I had the confieed duck that fell off the bone, Kevin had the beef cheeks in a bed of pasta, Salim had a sirloin wrapped in pastry, and Suki had the salmon with boc choy. We all shared a bite with each other and we all enjoy it throughly! Do check it out for yourself and enjoy the experience!

Nom’n At Kyoto

Sushi & Sashimi is honestly one of my favourite things to eat… it’s soo buttery smooth, rich in flavour, and is good for you! Last night a bunch of us went to Kyoto for our good friend Alexis birthday dinner to nom on some Japanese food. We had warm sake flowing, food coming in constantly, and good conversations happening… good night all around.

You Know You Want SUM!

It’s been a ritual for my family & friends to go to Dim Sum on Sundays since I was born… today was no exception! I honestly wake up every Sunday and immediately send out a mass text message to get people to get dim sum. I either go to Jumbo or Golden Rice Bowl… either or are good in my opinion, BUT if you do go please don’t be alittle wuss and not try/eat the chicken feet and tripe. IT’S SOO GOOD! If anyone is down for dim sum on any Sunday, hit me up & I will meet up!

Favourite Items:
- Chicken Feet
- Beef Tripe
- Shoamai (Pork Dumpling)
- Lotus Leaf Rice
- Fried Shrimp Dumplings
- Bean Curd
- Pork Short Ribs

It’s AMOR-e!

Last night a bunch of us celebrated our beloved Amor’s birthday at Packrat Louie on Whyte Ave. We all braved the harsh cold to go and eat some delicious FOOD! It was good to see everyone out for her birthday and for the GREAT conversations to be had when around each other. The menu is always changed & revamping at Parkrat Louie but the entree that I ordered was honestly the BEST porkchop I’ve had in my life! don’t tell my mom this With it’s demi-glazed Guinness sauce, enough fat to keep it moist, tender meat to cut with my fork, caramelized onions on top, and all the right sides to complement the entire dish. THIS WAS TO DIE FOR! If you are ever at this resturant please please please try the Grilled Pork! Other entrees people got was the porterhouse steak, chicken breast supreme, and their classic pizza… soo much to choose from! Here are some photos I took during the night…

Go visit Amor at MAKE IT! starting this Thursday till Sunday! She will be selling all of her awesome jewlery at this event… Go & Support Locals!
