Shadaloo Psycho Brigade

The long awaited Triumvir x Shadaloo Psycho Brigade is around the corner. Triumvir started their pre-orders since yesterday!… SO GET ON IT! Each item is limited to 50-60 made world-wide and of course all made in the USA since Brandon & the fam wanted to bring back the production back to their own backyard in Orange County. Click HERE to do your pre-orders.

Here is what Brandon had to say about the collection:

“What I wanted to do with Shadaloo Psycho Brigade was to create an unorthodox approach from the “video game/anime x clothing line” genre that we are used to seeing here in the USA. I really respect the cool products that other collaborators in Japan and the rest of Asia create when it comes to a clothing label collaborating with a video game/anime/manga related title. When it comes to these related merchandise, the quality and concept in Asia is top-notch and you get a sense of the attention to detail the creative and development team put towards the product and concept. And that kind of dedication is what I wanted to mimic from our neighbors across the pacific. Recently I noticed my little cousin wearing a Japanese made Gundam hoody that costs somewhere around $150.00 with the nicest construction and material I’ve seen used and it wasn’t just a screen printed character of Zaku. So this is only part of the reason for creating a whole separate mini website for the Psycho Brigade Collection, I wanted to give the feeling of it being its own entity away from Triumvir, a detailed concept, in my opinion it is more about the concept of the Psycho Brigade character than the clothing itself, because the clothing was created for the character…

I understand there are different types of collectors within every genre and I do not expect all Street Fighter fans to like what we’re doing… it’s not about that. I myself, am one of those collectors who is lucky enough to work with a company like Capcom and fortunate enough to say, “hey wouldn’t it be cool if Shadaloo came out with a jacket like this…” and actually be able to produce it and share it with fellow Shadaloo fans. At the end of the day, I understand that these pieces may be too militant or too dark, but isn’t that what Shadaloo is about…? Have you really looked at Vega (M.Bison)..? For this reason, much of the Psycho Brigade Collection is very limited, because it’s not made for the general Street Fighter consumer… it’s made for the Shadaloo consumer.”

Blind Faith & Hell Is For Heros

Triumvir has released their Autumn line on October 16th and a few days before the release Brandon, brand director, did a write up on his vision for the upcoming season of their A/W 09’. One of the reasons why Triumvir is one of my top independent brands is that they inform their cliental on their reasonings for their ideas/visions on each season… and this season is no different. The whole premise of these season is that Autumn is the protagonist, “Blind Faith”, and Winter is the antagonist, “Hell Is For Heros”, that is derived from many influences. These includes Constantine the Great, the Knights Hospitallers, the German BMW R75 motorcycle, the German Panzerdivision, WWII air squadrons, Mad Max, and the Fist of the North Star. Brandon had chosen the religious & military aspects from those influences to be the main direction for these seasons. Also starting in these seasons, the cut & sew production is back in Orange County and their tees will be a slimmer fit previous seasons. With these changes, the increase of quality in the production & materials will be in definite.

Blind Faith is the Protagonist and the characterization is based on Constantine the Great. A small synopsis of Constantine is that he was chosen by Christ to be God’s general which lead him to win the Civil War, made Christianity tolerable, and united the West & East of the Roman Empire. The main cut & sew dedicated to this theme was the Constantine’s Bomber Jacket. This jacket is a mix between the traditional bomber and a sportier baseball jacket that has patches placed as it would be on a WWII tanker. These patches include a “T” and Felix holding a bomb which Felix means Lucky in Latin. The most important symbolism is the CCCXII on the back that represents 312 AD which is the era that Constantine & The Civil War occurred.

Hell is for Heroes is the Antagonist and the characterization is the Crusader military order of the Knights Hospitallers. Brandon said this was his favourite out of the two concepts because he was always drawn to the villains due to their character build up. The synopsis of the Knights Hospitallers is that they were ordered by the Pope to re-conquest of the Holy Land from the infidels, believed strongly for the name of God to do this conquest, and was promised to be relieved from their sins & not to be sent to “Hell” after death. The title “Hell is for Heroes” was taken from a 1962 film staring Steve McQueen who played a American solider anti-hero in WWII against the Germans. They made two garments to represent this theme. First is the Knights Hospitallers M65 which was constructed with a 12-ounce cotton canvas unwashed. The Second garment is the Panzerdivison Wool Jacket that is the first wool garment made from this company. The main influences of this jacket is the BMW R75 and is a combination of a peacoat & the wool jackets that German Panzer-division tank officers wore. The crossed stitched “black rose” on the chest represent the antagonists last worldly imprint keep close to his heart.
