Music Monday Vol. 7 "The Weeknd Edition"

For the past two weeks now I’ve been blasting The Weeknd either at home, at the shop, driving, or biking. Something about R&B music that always get me hooked. The melancholy of his voice with the instrumentals used in his songs work perfectly together. Check out both of his mixtapes “House of Balloons” & “Thursday”.

An On Going Series

For the Scenic Edmonton Art Show at The Common I knew I wanted in corporate the different landscapes we have here in the city and the epic skies we have in Edmonton. When I first started to shoot for the show, I shot very vaguely to allow me to play with the cropping. After starting at the photographs for a good 3 hours on the computer I decided to make the foreground only 25% of the final product and the rest will be the beautiful skies. I shot one at sunset in a grassy hill by my house, another in the canola fields on a bright sunny day, and lastly one just off Whyte Ave of the gloomy grey sky. I’m very very pleased with the final product and I’m most definitely continuing this series to hopefully be able to do a full show. Well here are the final images and be sure to check them out on the 40x20 canvas prints at The Common!

This video reminded me how much I really really NEED to go to New York next year… I know I know I haven’t gone yet and every single time a friend/family goes there they tell me I would LOVE it there… defiantly next years trip is an Empire State of mind!

Scenic Edmonton Art Show

This Thursday at The Common there will be an Photography Art Show that will showcase several photographers that took their interpretation on “Scenic Edmonton”. Edmonton scenery to me is bright yellow canola fields with bright blue skies, grassy hills with purply/orangy/red sunset skies, and busily tree branches with dark grey clouds. I portrayed these within three photographs on 20 x 40 landscape canvas prints; which two are used for the posters for The Common parties this weekend. When you hear the name FAKE BLOOD the first things that come to mind are: banging electro, masher raves, hipsters surrounding them… BUT I bet you guys didn’t know they are very knowledgeable of hip-hop/funk music and have a whack load of old vinyl of the original song that are sampled by modern producers. I was very impressed with each “Used Vol.” they have release the past month. Take a listen and enjoy the melodies that are about to be played.

Romantic Eatery

My family/friends are BIG eaters and we always have potlucks, cook offs, food battles, etc and I always just take photos of the actual gathering… BUT this time I just wanted to take photos of the food because to me thats the romantic part of the entire gathering. I shot these delicious sliders in a high key setting in mind with my 5D MrkII with my favourite lens of 50mm f/1.4. This is why I love summer so much because of how much I am able to use my BBQ to cook food! Happy eatings everyone!

Recently they were asked to be in an article about them and their store on Be Street Magazine who is based out in France. Even though my birthday was last week my good friends from my Photography Class: Kim Kim, Dwayne, Delain, and Shawn insisted to go out for some beers at Empress. Lone and behold Kim Kim made me a special birthday cake (she is know to make the best cakes for any occasions)… BUT I didn’t expect a Munny version of me on the cake that dresses exactly what I wear all the time. Love my friends soo much! Great times catching up since we graduated in the spring time, having drinks, eating pizza, and of course eating cake. This is why I love summer and of course my friends! THANKS AGAIN KIM KIM!

Honestly my favourite singers of our time is Raphael Saadiq and of course Aloe Blacc. No one really appreciates singers and their voices until they see them live and when I saw Rapheal Saddiq recently at the Commodore in Vancouver I was in complete awe during his two hour set. Another person I want to see live is Aloe Blacc, but for right now these six videos that MADE blog created during his intimate performance will hold me off for now… ENJOY!
