SOSFest

The newests festival to hit Edmonton’s already steady flow of festivals in the summertime is the Sounds of Old Strathcona Music Festival. I didn’t even know about it until yesterday on their last day of the festival. They actually closed down 103rd - 105th Street on Whyte Ave for vendors to sell their merchandise and for two stages where local bands performed. The Foosh & Bamboo Ballroom family, friends, and myself watched Shout Out Out Out perform on the 103rd Street. It was packed, full of energy, good vibes, & everyone enjoy good music on the streets of Whyte Ave. I can see this festival grow bigger and bigger throughout the years… hopefully more acts & maybe DJ sets? Only time will tell!

Music With SOUL

Sorry for the lack updates lately… just been busy starting up EDmag.ca, starting to write for Triumvir, & enjoying the short summer we have here in the city. Being summer in Edmonton, I do go out more than I often do BUT all I hear is electronic music which is all good BUT some of it has no SOUL. I’m sick of hearing music that has no SOUL in it…thus I go back to my number #1 muse in music which is Hip-Hop & R&B. Here is what I like to listen to on a daily in my room, car, and anywhere its appreciated.

The Roots - Right On

Slum Village - Selfish

John Legend - Save Room

J Dilla - Body Movin’

Black Star - Thieves In The Night

Beach Bound

With being away from the beach for way too long, the miss & me decided to go to Pigeon Lake on our next days off together. Thankfully that day came by fast and yesterday we headed off to the lake to relax in the heat and cool down in the water. It was perfect way to spend a day off during summer in Edmonton… I do sugest if your in the city to go out on day trips to escape the city life.

Surprise Surprise

On Friday morning, I surprised the miss with a breakfast at Sugarbowl and going to the Valley Zoo…to tell you the truth, it was one of the funnest days I had for a really long time. First & formost the breakfast at Sugarbowl was AMAZING! I had the corn bread benny and Mariel had the Huevos rancheros which both were filling. We both had lattes that were as good as the food…lets say we enjoyed our times at Sugarbowl every time we go. After we finished up there we went to the Valley Zoo to check out all the animals, but especially the cutest of them all…the RED PANDA! Somedays you just need a surprise to put a smile on someones face…
