The Legend Of Mr. Rager
One of the albums I’m waiting to drop this Fall is Kid Cudi Man On The Moon II: The Legend Of Mr. Rager. Cudi’s first album kept me through the winter last year & I’m still bumping it to this day. These two tracks “REVOFEV” & “Erase Me” coming off his new album are already stuck in my head… I can’t wait to hear the rest! Kid Cudi -...

This past Friday was the first performance that Kid Sister has done in the city & it was one to remember. GOOD times with GOOD people with GOOD music… what more can you ask for? Beside some hick ups from the not named FIRE MARSHALS everyone had fun partying it down all night long. Of course the miss & myself had a blast dancing it up on the dance floor that was FLOODED with...

Groovy Beats
I only listen to a selected amount of electronica/dance DJ’s and one of them is Treasure Fingers from Fool’s Gold Records. He recently played in San Francisco at the Temple and a radio station did a recording of his 70min set… trust me you need to give it a listen! Source: Hypetrak

Another Year
Yesss another year has passed in my life BUT I am very grateful for everything that has happened to me… I got into school for my passion of Photography, I went back to the Philippines with my family, hangout with my friends on various occasions that were memorable, and most importantly meeting my favourite lady in the world. Though my 21st year was awesome, I KNOW that there will be bigger...

SOSFest
The newests festival to hit Edmonton’s already steady flow of festivals in the summertime is the Sounds of Old Strathcona Music Festival. I didn’t even know about it until yesterday on their last day of the festival. They actually closed down 103rd - 105th Street on Whyte Ave for vendors to sell their merchandise and for two stages where local bands performed. The Foosh & Bamboo...

Music With SOUL
Sorry for the lack updates lately… just been busy starting up EDmag.ca, starting to write for Triumvir, & enjoying the short summer we have here in the city. Being summer in Edmonton, I do go out more than I often do BUT all I hear is electronic music which is all good BUT some of it has no SOUL. I’m sick of hearing music that has no SOUL in it…thus I go back to my number #1...

First & formost the breakfast at Sugarbowl was AMAZING! I had the corn bread benny and Mariel had the Huevos rancheros which both were filling. Curry Fix
Last Friday Mariel & I cooked something we were both craving that day… CURRY! Mariel recently had the curry noodles at Surgarbowl & got inspired to make her own version that was absolutely amazing. It was green curry, white fish, bean sprouts, cilantro, coconut milk, & rice noodles. First and for most we boiled water to soak the noodles in. Then we added some vegetable oil with...

Higher
J.Cole is one of my favourite Lyricists in the Hip-Hop game right now & he does not disappoint in his latest single “Higher” which is showcased in the Tapemaster’s forthcoming mixtape. His flow alongside with his lyrics is what Hip-Hop needs right now… no more auto-tune shit Source: Hypetrak

Relaxing
Cebu was the most relaxing part of the trip thus far because all we did was chill in the hotel, pool, & our own section of beach area. We stayed at The Hilton… which is very noticeable in Cebu due to the fact they are just two tall PINK buildings haha. It was actually really nice inside the rooms & out where the pool/beach was. One night I had the most expensive burger in the...

Beaches & Food
The last few days at the island we had a mellowed out time at my uncles beach cooking, barbecuing, stewing, and of course nom’n! We visited all the coast spots of the island of Lubang to see the different scenery… to bad I couldn’t take out my camera most of the time because of the dusty roads. The boat we took to go back from Lubang was a pretty small/sketchy boat that kept on...

Candle Light
Last Night my family & I finished our part in the festival by leading a candle lite procession throughout the town. All my family members held the crosse while the rest of the town held candles that are lite around us. It was really cool to see the street light up by only candles & lanterns…really memorable part of the trip thus far. Here are some images that I was able to take while...

Santa Cruz Festival
Here in Lubang there is a festival every year that is named Santa Cruz Festival. This tradition started here soo far back even my mom & her sister don’t remember when it started but had been going since they were babies. Basically its a 9 day festival where there would be 9 different family hosts that would feed the entire town. There would always be a live band playing to dance to,...

Island Life
Life on Lubang Island is really HOT & chilled out… the only thing to do is go to the center of the city to go on internet, play basketball, go to the “clean” beach, drink beer, and sit infront of fan because its HELLA hot here! It’s soo hot here that even sitting down inside with a fan I’m still SWEATING my ass off… uncomfortable hot. Here are some images...

50mm
I decided once I landed in the motherland is to shoot with only a 50mm with my 5D to make myself move towards or away from the subject rather than using a zoom lens. As well I’ve been shooting Manual Focus to make me think more of my main focus in the shot. Shooting with the 5D that has a full frame sensor with a 50mm lens is like capturing images that I see in my own sight due to the fact...

Live From The Philippines!
Finally I found some internet at my cousins and I am able to upload and fill you guys in how my first two days were in Manila, Philippines. Traveling from Edmonton to Vancouver to Philippines was probably the hardest/longest plane ride ever… BUT once we got to the Manila around 4am it felt like 6pm for us because of the time change of 15 hours. Though it was a long first day in this busy...

My New Buddy Fivedee
Yesterday I finally got my new buddy…Canon 5D Mrk II! Thus far I LOVE this beaut of a body and I got the kit lens with it, 24-105mm f/4, which is sharp BUT it’s kinda slow for indoor shots yet still useful in studio settings. The main lens that I will be shooting with this body will be my beloved Canon 50mm f/1.4 and with the full frame sensor I can use it to its fullest! Soo stoked to...

Laying It All Out
The latest assignment that I shot/edited was our “Layout” assignment which we were given a strict layout for a shoe AD. We had to keep the shoes as the main subject, keep the image as portrait layout, and keep room on the bottom right corner for pre-made text…basically it was like an art director telling us what he wanted in the shot that the cliental wanted. Soo I wanted to...

The Red Beast
This past weekend my summer car was out and ready to be driven… thus why I have not been updating cause I’ve been out every single night till 3 AM driving. I forgot how good it feels to drive this car for it’s raw-ness of feeling the road, hearing the engine/exhaust notes, and just enjoying cruising around with friends. Love spring/summer for the weather, events, and making any...

With my car being in the body shop this week for getting the quarter panel fixed and know that it will be up and ready to drive by this weekend… I have been looking at all my routine car forums/sites: NWP4LIFE, CANiBEAT, Honda-Tech, and our sad local forum that is 780tuners. The most inspiration I get lately are videos of the OG’s on where they are currently like the FF Squad. I posted...

Scallops Without The Bacon
Saturday nights are becoming a ritual for Mariel & myself to cook dinner right after I’m done work. This past Saturday night we were really craving some scallops in a simple way without wrapping bacon around it like everyone else does and we decided to sauté them in brown butter/olive oil with salt & paper seasoning. 30 secs on each side to get enough browning without over cooking...

The Common In HDR
Another day, Another Assignment Due! Soo the latest assignment I finished was a HDR shot of a location of my choice that had a pleasing decor… of course I picked The Common! Doing the actual shooting only took 15mins that consisted of several bracketed shots at f/22 & ISO 100 on a tripod. After that easy part it was time to figure out which bracket shots to use and I finally chose 10 out...

Window Light
For one of my assignments this week for my Lighting course we had to use “window lighting”. This could be from a flash, strobe, or actual window lighting. We had to have a very very soft light source, no direct lighting, while producing a good portrait that tells a story and has an environment to help that story. Soo I got my favourite model, Mariel, to look like she was thinking about...

We had soo much food there, we started to experiment with the plethora of items to mix...

From The Westside, With Love
One of my favourite lyricis from L.A., Dom Kennedy, has released his 3rd official mixtape “From The Westside, With Love”. This mixtape houses 16 new tracks that are produced by Drew Byrd, BrandUn Deshay, L.A.U.S.D. and Hitboy to name a few. Every time I listen to Dom, I think I am in L.A. rolling down the streets on a skateboard just chilling with my homies while eating In-N-Out...

BBQ Season
Last night me and the miss did our ritual saturday night cooking. Since it was super nice out, we decided to kick off spring time BBQ with burgers & fries! For the burgers I made it with normal ground beef & lean ground beef to balance out the fat content. I added several spices from The Keg steak spice, dry thyme, garlic powder, salt & peper, and oatmeal. Then I added onions, two...
